Gary Atterbury

"Gary Lee Atterbury Killed In Accident East of Lexington"

Gary, a 17-year-old senior at Carrollton High School lost his life in an automobile accident Tuesday, December 4, 1962, at 9:45 a.m. on Highway 24, east of Lexington, Mo. The son of Emerald and Juanita Atterbury, he was born June 27, 1945 in Brookfield, Missouri.

Involved in the accident was a 1960 Chevrolet sedan driven west by Gary Lee Atterbury, 17, of 203 Martin St, Carrollton, Missouri, and a 1962 truck driven east by Fred James Bausily, 42, of Marshall. The accident occurred when Bausily fell asleep at the wheel and veered onto the left side of the road striking the Atterbury car almost head on. Gary was apparently killed instantly.

His body was taken to Vaughn Walker Funeral Home in Lexington and later transferred to Gibson Funeral Home in Carrollton. Bausily was not injured. The 1960 Chevrolet sedan was demolished. There was extensive damage to the Chevrolet truck.

He attended elementary school and his freshman year in the Marshall school system. Three years ago he moved with his parents to Carrollton. He was traveling to Kansas City to visit a friend in the hospital when the accident occurred.

He was a member of the Baptist Church having joined the First Baptist Church in Marshall. Surviving are his parents Mr. and Mrs. Emerald Atterbury and a brother Larry Dale of the home.

Fred Bausily is being held in the Lafayette County jail in Lexington awaiting charges to be filed.

Funeral services for Gary Lee Atterbury were held Tuesday at 2 o'clock at Gibson Funeral Home conducted by Rev. W.W. Fountain assisted by A.W. Michael. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery.


Samuel LeRoy Bell

Samuel LeRoy Bell, 45, of Borger, Texas, died Monday, July 22, 1991, at his home. He was a former Carrollton resident.

Mr. Bell was born November 5, 1945, in Carrollton, the son of John Samuel and Sylvia L. Mann Bell. He attended Carrollton grade and high school and was married to Carolyn Welch of Akron, Ohio, in November of 1971. He was employed by a drilling company.

Survivors include his wife of the home; two daughters, Karmin Samara and Jamie Jacklyn Bell, both of the home; his mother, Mrs. Sylvia Bell, of Carrollton; three brothers, Gary Bell, of Marshall; and Larry Bell and Paul Bell, both of Carrollton; four sisters, Mrs. Pat Hogan, Mrs. Shirley Smith, Mrs Betty Watts and Mrs Janet Summers, all of Carrollton; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father and a brother, Jackie Dale Bell, of Bosworth.


Charles Dady

Charles Alfred Dady, age 56, of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away Friday, August 17, 2001, at the Independence Regional Hospital in Independence, Missouri.

He was born May 27, 1945, in Bogard, Missouri, the son of Coen Eldon and Thelma Rounkles Dady.

He graduated from Carrollton High School and served in the National Guard for several years.

Survivors include two daughters, Lora Araujo of Kansas City, Missouri and Janet Goodwin of Trimble, Missouri; one son, Roger Dady of Carrollton, Missouri; four grandchildren, R. Michael, Robert, Vincente, and Laurencia.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m., Tuesday, August 21, 2001, at the Gibson Funeral Home. Graveside services will be Wednesday, August 22, 2001, at the Coloma Cemetery, Coloma, Missouri, conducted by Reverend Bruce Trussell.

The family suggests contributions to the American Cancer Society in memory of Mr. Dady.


John Gary Haselroth

John Gary Haselroth, 36, of Carrollton, Missouri, died early Wednesday, September 15, 1982, from injuries received in a motorcycle accident approximately one half mile south of the 65-24 junction on Highway 65 bypass east of town.

Mr. Haselroth was born December 29, 1945, in Marshall, Missouri, the son of John W. Haselroth, deceased, and Dorothy Kathryn Ader Haselroth of Carrollton.

Mr. Haselroth graduated from Carrollton High School and attended Central State University in Warrensburg.

On the date of his death, he was employed by the Prarie Land Construction Company as an equipment operator.

He was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church of Carrollton. Survivors include his mother Mrs. Dorothy Haselroth, Carrollton; a step-father, Gus Hurlburt, Lee's Summit; a sister, Mrs. A.W. (Elaine) Hilbrenner; two nephews, Mitch Hilbrenner and Darren Hilbrenner, both of Carrollton; a niece, Mrs. Sharon (Hilbrenner) Cole, Warrensburg; two grand-nieces and a grand-nephew.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Gibson-Rice Funeral Home in Carrollton with the Rev. George Rattelmuller officiating. Burial will be in Carroll Memory Gardens.

Friends may visit from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Gibson-Rice Chapel in Carrollton.

 


Carl Moss

Carl Gene Moss, Sr., was born on January 22, 1946, in Norborne, Missouri. He was the son of the late Lee Roy Moss and Hester Byron Moss.

Carl attended Lincoln and Dietrich Schools in Carrollton, Missouri. He graduated from Carrollton High School in 1963. He attended Penn Valley Community College before joining the Army in 1965.

In 1954, Mr. Moss united with Christ at Virginia Street Baptist Church in Carrollton, Missouri.

Upon Carl's retirement from the Army in 1989, he moved to Kansas City, Missouri. He was employed by the Kansas City Missouri Public School District until his health began to fail.

Mr. Carl Gene Moss, Sr., depated this life on Friday, April 6, 2001 at St. Joseph Hosiptal, Kansas City, Missouri.

Carl leaves to mourn his passing; two sons, Carl Moss, Jr. of Springfield, Missouri and Matthew Moss of Louisville, Kentucky; one daughter, Cynthia Moss of Kansas City, Missouri; two sisters, Ms Wilma Dawkins and Norma Moss, both of Kansas City, Missouri; and two brothers, William Moss and Emmett Moss of Kansas City, Missouri; fifteen nieces and nephews; twenty-two great nieces and nephews, a host of other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services held at Watkins Brothers Memorial Chapel, Kansas City, Missouri, on Wednesday, April 11, 2001 at 10 AM, Rev. John Modest Miles officiating.

Interment: Leavenworth National Cemetery, Leavenworth, KS, 12:30 PM.


J.W. Simms

James W. (J.W.) Simms was born in Carroll County February 9, 1945, son of William Randall and Virginia Simms. His parents survive at the farm home on Carrollton Rout 2.

The young Marine was graduated from Carrollton High School and studied three years at the University of Missouri. He then transferred to Central Missouri State where he received his degree last year.

Lt. Simms received his commission as an officer in the Marine Corps Reserve on May 19, 1968 in graduation ceremonies at Central Missouri State College, Warrensburg.

On February 26, 1967, J. W. Simms was married to Miss Deloris Herberger, who survives. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Herberger of Norborne. The death of Lt. Simms occurred on his second wedding anniversary.

He reported for active duty the following month to the Marine Base at Quantico, Virginia. He was stationed there until being ordered to Vietnam last December 18. 1968.

2nd Lt James W. Simms of the Marine Corps trained Nov. 13, 1968, at Quantico, Virginia. Overseas to Vietnam.

Died February 26, 1969, by hostile rifle fire with company "D" 1st Battalion 9th Marine Regimentt 3rd Marine Division.

F.M.F. , J.W. earned two awards of the Nation's third highest decoration for combat heroism. The Silver Star metal honored on Feb 9, 1969. Also received the Purple Heart, National Order of Viet Nam, 5th class and the Cross of Gallantry with Palm.

The body will be returned to the Gibson Funeral Home in Carrollton where a family service is planned. Funeral services are then to be held at Trinity Lutheran Church in Norborne. Buried in Carroll Memory Gardens in Carrollton, Missouri.


Don Schuler

James Donald Schuler, 39, of Searcy, Arkansas, died Wednesday morning, October 10, 1984 when the car he was driving was hit head on by an oncoming car. The family resided in Chillicothe, Missouri, 11 years, moving to Arkansas in August of 1984.

Mr. Schuler was born August 17, 1945, in Carrollton, Missouri, the son of James Otis and Charlene Lungren Schuler. He was preceeded in death by his father in December 1966.

He was married to the former Patricia Ann Jenkins of Bosworth, Missouri, on November 16, 1969. To this union two sons were born, Mark Douglas and Bradley Ryan.

Mr. Schuler attended the Carrollton public schools graduating from Carrollton High School in 1963. He attended Central Missouri University, Warrensburg, Missouri, and graduated from a Computer Programmer College in Kansas City, Missouri.

Early in life he joined the Carrollton United Methodist Church, later transferring his membership to the Liberty United Methodist Church, Chillicothe, Missouri.

At the time of his death he was employed by the Puritan Churchill Chemical Co. of Atlanta, GA, with a branch office in Little Rock, Arkansas.

Surviving are his wife and two sons of the home and his mother of Carrollton, Missouri.

Furneral services will be conducted Saturday, October 13, 1984, at 1:30 PM at the chapel of the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri. The Rev. David Norberry will officiate. Burial will be in Edgewood Cemetery, Chillicothe. There is no planned visitation and the body will lie in state after 3 PM Friday.

Pallbearers: Myron Hoyt, Ron Lame, Ken Lauhoff, Larry Linville, Dale Lowrey, Jim Sonders, Larry Wright, and William Wolf.


Margaret Trigg

Margaret L. Trigg went to be with the Lord on Monday, October 9, 1995, at her home. Age 50 years. Margaret was born August 26, 1945 in Kansas City, Missouri and moved to Saginaw in 1963 She obtained a L.P.N. Degree from the O.I.C. and a R.N. Degree from Mid-Michigan Community College in Clare. She was employed by Saginaw General Hospital until 1994.

Margaret was an active member of Coleman Temple Church of God in Christ, having served as Sunday School teacher, choir president, church secretary, children's church director and a member of the Young Women's Christian Council.

She is survived by four children. Stephan (Shelliann) Trigg of Saginaw; Stephanie (Gregory) Burns of Grand Rapids; Kimberly R. Trigg of Wyoming, Michigan and Keith R. Trigg of Saginaw; two grandchildren, Erika Lynn Trigg and Nicholas Stephan Trigg, her mother, Delorise M. White of Carrollton, Missouri; three sisters, Barbara (Lester) Ransburg, Kansas City, Missouri; Janice M. Trigg of St. Louis, Missouri; Evelyn J. Trigg of Lexington, Missouri; one brother, James M. Trigg of Tempe, Arizona and many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her father, John White.

Entombment at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens and Mausoleum, Saginaw, Michigan
